San Miguel de Allende is described in one of my guidebooks
as the “Disneyland of Mexico”. I haven’t
seen any rides yet, but it is more expensive than other Mexican cities that we
have visited in the past!
Many ex-pats from the US & Canada have taken residency here which has driven the price of real estate sky-high, but that isn’t stopping us from looking at a couple of properties tomorrow, JUST FOR FUN!
Today we took a luxury bus from Guanajuato to San Miguel
arriving just before 2 pm.
We had a lovely lunch and set out to take in a few sights.
This is a shopper’s paradise with many little shops full of creative, colorful arts & crafts.
I pretended to be a photographer snapping pics of doorways & little statues. This is a great place to stroll!
The main church is most impressive, looks like a giant pink
wedding cake. It is ornate inside & out.
On our way back to our room Keith stopped for a haircut and beard trim, a tradition when we travel in Latin America.

Keith always lets me
explain to the barber how I would like it cut. I always tell them to leave it
long, just trim a little, but he always gets the same short cut.
Today the sun was shining through some light clouds, luckily no rain. But when the sun went down and the wind starting blowing, we felt the chill of this unseasonably cool weather. Luckily the owner of the home that we are staying in had purchased, just this morning, a little heater for our room (practically unheard of in these parts), so we are warm & cozy as we settle down for a long winter’s rest.
