Today was an amazing day! We started by meeting up with a
real estate agent to look at four properties. The first two were within walking
distance from the historic center and the others out of town with mountain
views yet close to a major modern shopping center & restaurants.
We are
going to take a second look at one of the city homes, which is close to the
Mexican market & a very fair price for a newly constructed home in what
appeared to be a upscale neighborhood. I’m afraid we are affected by San
Miguel, it might be the place in Mexico for us to retire.
After another delicious lunch at a café recommended by our
Mexican agent, we just walked around until we came to a gallery that was
inviting. The artist at work was most entertaining and volunteered to shut the
shop’s door for the day and take us home with him, which we eagerly agreed to
do.
His home was treasure trove of color & design.
Keith's Favorite
Jodi's Favorite...I wish you could experience the textures of the various found objects attached, little milagros!
We were
both enthralled with his creations in a variety of media.
Keith listening to how this bronze sculpture was created
Bruce was generous
with his time & descriptions of the creative process & his work.
Many creations were made with found objects. There were at least 50 of this pieces around Bruce's home.
Bruce was
so genuine, original & kind.
We loved hanging out with him on this third
story terrace overlooking the cathedral & reservoir, a picture perfect ending
to the afternoon as the sun went down.
Murals covered the walls. This one was outside on the terrace.
As we walked home we stopped in the main square and felt
more drawn to Mexico than ever.
The lights, sounds, families celebrating the
warmer evening…everything is inviting us to stay in San Miguel.
Two "Gigante" dancers out for the evening
We spoke with
various ‘gringos’ here today who all love living here. We are giving San Miguel
much consideration, perpetual spring-like weather & a rich art &
cultural scene could make our lives richer, and yet, more affordable.
